Clock museum and historical tour
After starting the day with some breakfast, we gathered in front of the hotel at 10:00. From there, we took a good half-hour walk to the Uhrenmuseum (clock museum), where we got immersed in the history of Austrian (and more generally worldwide) clock craftsmanship. Then, we split up for lunch and some leisure time.
We reconvened at the Albertinaplatz at 14:15 for a historical walking tour called ‘Hitler’s Vienna’. We walked by several noteworthy places he visited both when he was the Führer, and back when he was just some unknown postcard painter. Meanwhile we got some background on the political situation in Austria that allowed him to perform his Anschluss. The tour ended at the former Gestapo building, where a memorial was erected for all deported Austrians.
After going back to the hotel for a rest and a change of clothes, we went to dinner at Bier & Bierli. We got to taste the lovely local cuisine (in quite a rapid pace): Wienerschnitzel and apfelstrudel. After we got our fill, we headed towards the Bermudadreieck for a nice pub crawl to end the night.
