ABB Gilching & Andechs Monastery
Today was our last day in Germany. We started the day with a visit to ABB in Gilching near Munich, which is a research and development branch of ABB, focussing on collaborative robots. These robots are designed to work closely with humans.
We received an interesting presentation about ABB on a larger scale, and then about the specific office we were visiting. Then, the topic was shifted towards the technical properties of the robots, and we were able to inquire about both the limitations and features of the machines. Through our questions, we also explored and discussed the challenges in product development.
After this interactive presentation, we received a tour of the office and a demonstration of one of the cobots, during which we were able to play around with the robot and its software.
We were treated by ABB with a nice pasta for lunch, and then travelled to the Andechs Monastery, which is located on top of the heilige Berg. From the top of this hill, we enjoyed the view of the Alps and then went inside to enjoy a nice locally brewed beer.
The rest of the day was less exciting, as it consisted of a long drive to Zürich in Switzerland. Tonight, we will sleep in the Zürich Olympia Hotel, and prepare for our next day, which consists of a visit to CSEM and the Landesmuseum Zürich.
Thanks for reading!
